As British Food Fortnight gets into its final week, the news that only one in five children think Coronation Street’s favourite dish hails from the region makes for gloomy reading.
Apparently the same survey found that, even in the North West, 13 percent think our regional lamb dish is a London invention while only just over a third realise that Eccles cakes come from Salford.
During the same Fortnight event, 9,000 volunteer chefs will be heading into schools to teach kids about their national cuisine. But it could well be an uphill struggle if ignorance about food is really so widespread that youngsters no longer know what a courgette looks like.
Whats the solution? Any suggesstions welcome below.
