Made it along to the first of two “openings” for the latest branch of Yo! Sushi today when it invited guests from the Spinningfields business community this lunchtime.
Being just yards from M.E.N towers, we wanted to see what might be on offer for a quick lunch and discovered the new store is also going to be delivering in this area.
Obviously the menu is the same as every other Yo!Sushi set up – erm – sushi. For anyone unfamiliar with the format, diners select colour-coded dishes from the distinctive conveyor belt and the bill is added at the end. Prices vary from £1.70 (for green) to £5 a dish(grey). Full menu here .
The venue is one of the new, bright, glass spaces in this emerging business quarter for the city, and it’s been a long time coming, but now the hoardings promising an opening in October 2007 have been removed.
While I remain disappointed that the whole of this area hasn’t attracted a single independent eaterie (Eat,
Wagamama, Giraffe, Pret etc) it is a welcome addition to the range of what’s on offer.
It will be interesting to see if the appetite for sushi successfully competes for the lunch trade in the face of near competitor Greggs where the midday queue of suits and hard hats is a sight to behold – just see Andrew Webb’s recent picture to see what I mean.
