With ear-splitting firecrackers, a cabbage grabbing lion and and a smattering of celebrity guests, the latest addition to the Yang Sing empire was declared open this evening.
The refurbished building on the corner of Princess Street rolled out a yellow carpet for a lion fuelled opening ceremony at 8.08 on the 8th to ensure some good luck, Chinese style.
And guests were able to quaff Champagne in the converted basement bar in the previously dilapidated grade two listed building just feet away from the “big” Yang Sing..
But sadly (for the purposes of this blog anyway) the ceremony didn’t offer insight into what foodie’s can expect from the “oriental infused bar menu”. Some of those tiny, weeny canapes briefly made an appearence but I think the lion got the best dinner with his succesful grabbing of a cabbage hanging in the celler.
However, the award-wining chefs Robert Kisby and Harry Yeung’s creations will soon be found in the Oku Champagne Bar, we’re told.
So a future trip is probably on the cards but in the meantime – time for a take-away.
Yang Sing Oriental is at 36 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 4JY.
Apologies to any Utterz followers – that loud sound clip I filed was the firecrackers believe it or not.
